The story of Flädie Mat & Vingård

Flädie Mat & Vingård was founded in 2003 by the restaurateur Nils-Bertil Hansson, who then began the transformation of a classic farmhouse from the turn of the last century into a unique Scanian vineyard.

In the first years, the business was mainly focused on catering, parties and weddings, but in 2006 the first hotel rooms were opened. Since Nils-Bertil’s son Martin took over the company, we put the first vines in the ground, and today we have around 9,000 vines on our 2.5 hectares. About 40% are green grapes and 60% blue, of varieties that can withstand the harsh Scandinavian climate, including Phoenix, Solaris and Rondo.

The first commercial harvest could be done in 2010 but it took until 2012 before our own Winery was ready – a state-of-the-art building with wine warehouse, wine production, more hotel rooms and an additional banquet hall.

Today we have 29 hotel rooms, two large conference/banquet halls, and three smaller spaces for conference or meetings. We offer catering throughout Skåne, everything from inaugurations, conferences, weddings and parties to hunting dinners and baptisms! We have a restaurant that is open on weekends throughout the year, and every day during the summer. We arrange tastings of the our own wines, and guided tours of the vineyard.

Since 2017, you will find most of our wines at Systembolaget, both in stores in Lomma, Löddeköpinge, Lund and Malmö, as well as in the to-order assortment. In 2019, we were the only Scandinavian producer to deliver wine to the Norwegian Vinmonpolet – our white wine Aniara.

Corona hit our business hard and immediately, when conferences, weddings, parties and corporate catering in a few days were canceled for the foreseeable future.

Flädiegruppen, which in addition to Flädie Mat & Vingård also included Flädie Vinproduktion, Kulturens Restaurang and Bjerreds Saltsjöbad Kallbadhus & Restaurang, was declared bankrupt at the end of March 2020. Two months later, the business was bought by Håkan & Carina Wikholm, who today own and operate Flädie Mat & Vingård.

Venison and local products in season

Our restaurant serves venison such as deer, roe deer, wild boar and elk from our owners Håkan and Carina Wikholm’s land in Skåne, the land estate Assmåsa beautifully situated by Snogeholmssjön and the land estate Häckebo next to Häckeberga and the land properties Applehult and Boalt near the Småland border. In both the tranquil forests and out on the agricultural fields on these lands, these wild animals live a peaceful and harmonious life in a nice environment.
